THREE DIE IN PDP WARD CONGRESS IN CROSS RIVER STATE

A corpse allegedly amongst the dead

Three people were reportedly killed in Odukpani Local Government Area in the South Senatorial District of Cross River State following the repeat Delegate Congress Election in the State on Monday.

Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, a supporter of Senator Prince Bassey Otu made this disclosure in Calabar on Tuesday.

Ekpenyong gave the names of those allegedly killed as Mrs Margaret Asuquo Akom, a matron, Okon Effiom Ayi and another who, he could not identity by name as at the time of this report.

Ekpenyong, who identified himself as a strong supporter of Prince Bassey Otu said on the fateful day, youths suspected to be supporters of Ntufam Ekpo Okon, a one time PDP Chairman in the State and also a Senatorial aspirant, gathered at Okurikang Junction with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons.
He alleged that for fear that if the election takes place, Prince Otu will surely sweep the pools, went amok shooting, destroying cars and houses allegedly belonging to supporters of Senator Prince Otu.
Corroborating his statements, Effiom Ekpo, who introduced himself as a retired soldier said there was no election in Odukpani. He said that apart from those killed; several others were injured and are currently hospitalized.
Ekpo added that there was also no election in Okurikang because there were no materials and expressed worry that radio announcements have it that the elections were free and fair, when three died, many injured, cars, houses and other properties were lost without a mention in the report.

Nearby, I appeal to Cross River State Politicians not to allow their supporters/thugs go the way of bloodshed. Think of what this will do to our collective good. It is up to you.
