THE BOMB THAT SHATTERED CROSS RIVER PDP SECRETARIAT

(According To Police Version) and The Underlying Consequences

An explosive device suspected to be a bomb rocked the premises of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Calabar, Monday at about 5.35 am.
The explosive shattered lovers on the ground floor of the secretariat.

A press release signed by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hogan Bassey confirmed the incident.

“The Cross River State Police Command wish to reflect on the on-going PDP adhoc delegates Congress, holding in the state, in the light of this, operatives were placed on surveillance, intelligence gathering , Monitoring, Food and Vehicular Patrol. This measure has yielded a positive result” the police said.

The release stated further, “Early today, 24th November, 2014 at 0535 hours, hoodlums who were unable to penetrate the heavily fortified secretariat by officers and men of the command threw an explosive device from behind the premise into the building. The explosion only shattered some lovers on the ground floor. No life was lost nor anybody sustained injury.”

The police source added that the police anti-bomb squad has cordoned the area and cleared the premises, stressing, “activities has returned to normal, while distribution of materials is smoothly on-going”.

The command assured members of the public of their safety and solicited for useful information to the police.

It would be recalled the delegates’ elections by the PDP in Cross River State held earlier was cancelled and a fresh one held yesterday. As at the time of this report, the elections were still on-going.

I just want to advice those playing games in Cross River State because they are able to share in the power and wealth of the moment.
Cross River State has very little revenue from oil now. What is putting us on the world map remains the PEACE and BUSINESS FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT used to market our tourism which we still need to work on.
Cross River State, Calabar to be precise is small and does not have good federal roads to link us to neigbouring states, hence keeping us trapped on most fronts.
Cross River's economy is in the hands of non-Cross Riverians, who cares only to milk the State dry while at it.
Cross River State does not have what it takes to curtail Terrorism because we are first of all not united due to our differences in languages and cultures.

These and many more reasons should influence our politicians to stop and ponder at what they think they are doing now just because they intend to grab power at all cost.

Those who started throwing the first bombs in Nigeria are now regretting what they had started, which the criminal and killer minds of Boko Haram have adopted to finish their thoughtless destruction of Nigeria and her people.
The politicians seem not to be thinking at all in Cross River, to even consider using bombs as a strategy to carryout their badness.

In case they have recovered from their drunkenness, let me remind them that they have just started what they should never have conceived.
Bombs do not know friend or foe, big or small man, good or bad man etc. once you throw a bomb, it will kill and demolish everything on its way. And our Carnival is coming, do you want people to come and gather in large numbers in a place where bombs have started being used? Are you sure of their safety?

Every Cross Riverian Politican should ponder over this article and reason. Our State must not be allowed to go the way of others who are regretting starting the very war that is consuming them. It is not too late for these men fighting over how to lord it over the rest us in the name of democracy to put away their egos and sit on a table and discourse. If what they are doing is continued because they are hoping to export their loving wives and children abroad for their own safety, they must remember that they cannot carry every family member. Their parents and siblings will remain here to taste the broth they are cooking.

Enough of the madness in Cross River State, since it is obvious we lack elders to advice the young, hot blooded politicians.
This is my submission and a word they say is enough for the wise.
