IG withdraws Speaker’s Security Detail, Will He Survive The Intrigues?

Many of us must have been watching the political space as soon as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker Tambuwal defected from the ruling political party, PDP to APC.

There has been lots of mixed reactions from a cross-section of Nigerians on what should or should not be. Some of the reactions are as myopic as they are ignorant.

I have heard many people claim that the Speaker has a right to defect to any party of his choice and should be left alone to continue as Head of the Lower Chamber.

While it is amusing, it is not surprising because the Nigerian society over the years has been greatly influenced by the corrupt leadership they are forced to endure which adversely narrows their sense of judgment to border on favouritism. If an issue favours them, no matter how unfair in reality it is, no body wants to bother.  This is what is leading to the many injustices in the land.

In the matter at hand, it borders politics and politics is a ‘GAME’ of interest. It is a competition, a contest and you would agree that nobody plays games in order to lose.

I am very sure that Speaker Aminu Tambuwal consulted widely and understands completely the action he has taken. He has asked for trouble and if a politician makes a move, usually he does it first of all for himself and then his followers. The kind of politics we have here in Nigeria should never be misunderstood to be true democracy. We have  a few people out to cut their share of the cake and then get us to cheer them for serving us.

So, in the days to come, PDP will humiliate Speaker Tambuwal with all powers in its possession because he has abandoned ship.

The bottom-line is that Speaker Tambuwal will be stripped of his title because a minority leader will not lead a majority house in politics, unless more House Members are converted to APC politicians in the earliest possible time, this might not change.

Remember APC will do the same if they were the leading party in Nigeria today. From all we can see so far, all the political parties behave the same; only complain and scratch when it doesn’t suit them. This has led to only disgruntled politicians desperate for power jumping ship when it suits them. None of them have the interest of Nigerians at heart. So there certainly is going to be another Speaker in the latest possible time.
What is unclear, though is what Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stands to gain politically from such a drastic political move.

If I am wrong, please correct me.
