Resident
Electoral Commissioners, RECS, are the representatives of INEC at the state
level.
They are
the administrative heads of the commission in the states and work in consonance
with other relevant Federal and State agencies to undertake all elections in at
state level except that of the Local Governments.
The RECs
derive their powers from those delegated to them by the National Chairman and
his twelve National Commissioners.
RECs are
responsible for collecting all election materials from INEC Headquarters and
distributing it for every election.
They also
work supervise the work of all ad hoc staff in the conduct of elections, and
ensure all relevant materials needed for confirmation of election results are
duly collated, filed and where needed forwarded to the Headquarters of the
commission.
