Atiku Storms Calabar, Chastises PDP

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar too a swipe at the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for incompetence and ineptitude in their style of leadership.
The former VP made the indictment on Friday in Calabar, while on a visit to the city to enable him meet with delegates of All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the primaries.

According to him, "Today's PDP is not the one we formed", arguing that contemporary PDP members are interested in their immediate families only.

"Go to the APC states and you will see development, progress, and you will feel it while in the states controlled by PDP, it is propaganda. That is the difference between us."

Atiku who recalled how in 1998 he caused former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, former attorney general and minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi, former deputy governor, late John Okpa to work together for the benefit of the state, said APC could capture the state and the presidency if only members worked in unity.

The APC presidential aspirant said he developed the blueprint which midwifed the amnesty programme for the Niger Delta ex-militants.
He, however, expressed worry that late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua who eventually won the election adopted the blueprint but could not implement according to plan because he was not the author.

He solicited support from the people of Cross River, disclosing that currently he has over 25,000 workers in his employ in the Niger Delta region alone. He pledged to do more if given the opportunity to rule as president.

However, he assured that any of the presidential aspirant in APC that wins at the primaries, such a candidate will get the support of the others.

Earlier, the state chairman of APC, Usani Usani said any candidate who emerges from APC as candidate, such a person will be better than President Goodluck Jonathan, urging Cross Riverians not to make mistake of voting in any candidates outside those of APC.
