AIG DECORATES OFFICERS, READ RIOT ACT TO YULETIDE CRIMINALS

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Zone 6, Mark Idakwo has allayed the fears of residents under his Command that he and his men are set to ensure a hitch free 2014 yuletide season.

According to Idakwo, a well coordinated surveillance team in and around the four states of Cross River, Rivers, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom States has been put in place to make this promise happen.

The AIG made these remarks Thursday in Calabar at the occasion of the decoration of a set of newly promoted officers.

Consequently, the Zone Six Police boss has directed Commissioners of Police in the Zone to sensitise members of the public through the media, to be security conscious and desist from any acts of criminality which will breach public peace and order.

Idakwo urged the general public especially parents to monitor the movements of their wards, secure their homes and when on the roads, obey all traffic rules and regulations.

The police command pledged to deal with any person or group of persons who may be poised to taking advantage of this season to foment trouble.

While decorating the newly promoted officers, Idakwo said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba “miffed at the stagnation of the officers and men of the police Force” has as a result, recommended the expansion and creation of more Commands/Formations and Duty Posts.

A breakdown of those decorated at the occasion shows that in Akwa Ibom, two Assistant Commissioners (ACs) were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, while seven Chief Superintendents were elevated to Assistant Commissioners.

In Cross River, two (CSPs) were promoted to ACs.  In Ebonyi, one CSP was elevated to AC, while in Rivers; one ACP was elevated to DCP, and Four CSPs to Assistant Commissioners.

Responding, the elevated Officers thanked the IG for his achievements within such a short term in office.

Meanwhile, those who spoke to Marty Eteng’s Blog expressed their happiness over the new promotion, after having been stagnated on the same rank for eight years, stressing that with this elevation, they will be encouraged to do more for Nigeria.
