You Are Too Old To Lead Cross River- Gov Imoke Tells Stalwarts

Cross River State Peoples Democratic Party PDP has inaugurated a campaign council with the immediate past chairman, Ntufam Ekpo Okon as its Director General with a charge that the party’s candidates are taken to every nook and cranny of the State.

Chairman of the party, Ntufam John Okon while inaugurating the council, thanked members for taking the party steps further as despite challenges, they stood by it as loyalists and lauded Governor Liyel Imoke for his sterling leadership quality.

According to him, “He is a good leader who loves the party and ensures it remains united. His leadership has brought unity, equity, justice, and fairplay within the party.”Speaking, the governor and the leader of the party in the state who is also the chairman of the council, Senator Liyel Imoke, described the event as significant as it marked the commencement the party’s desire to tell the people why they should vote for the party because it does not take them for granted.

‘We will not only meet the people but listen to them to enable us implement the projects which they want because the party is people-oriented and its projects revolved around the people. We intend to carry the message to the people and the difference in campaigning is when you do not have anything   to show,” he said.

The governor disclosed that,”We have constructed access road, built healthcare delivery centers, renovated and equipped schools, initiated social welfare programmes and today, Cross River is a leading state in the country and its people are united, bigger and stronger and PDP has a lot to show though it does not blow its trumpet so loud because it believes actions speak louder than words.”

“Our products must be marketed because they are easy to sell and these are products   that the people are familiar with and are tested and known. Our prayer is that those who come after us should do better than us.” he stated.

On reconciliation, he called on those who are aggrieved with the party for  various  reasons to have a rethink and come back because the party had given them titles and relevance while describing the party’s governorship candidate as “young, dynamic, energetic and purposeful” ,adding that one of governorship aspirants who lost out during the primaries, Mr. Jeddy Agba, “ had played from the beginning and played it well and coming  back after reconciliation means he is playing it better.”

He urged party faithful not to play campaign of calumny but go out to project all its candidates for state and national assemblies as well as President Goodluck Jonathan’s bid for a second term.

The Director General of the PDP Campaign Organisation Council , Ntufam Ekpo Okon,  assured the party of resounding victory in the state  while urging its members to work hard and sustain the legacy of PDP in the state.
