A guber aspirant Chief Francis Bullem warned Cross Riverians on the danger of
taking a wrong decision in the choice of who becomes governor of the state come
2015. Bullem gave the warning while interacting
with the party executive at the PDP Secretariat in Calabar today, as he came on
a mission to notify the party of his aspiration to vie for the
governorship position of the state.
The former Skybank chief and entrepreneur
urged the people not to make the any mistake in the their choice of
installing wrong persons with less capacity or pedigree to manage the
affairs of the state giving the lean resources of the state.
“Any attempt to install a mediocre to manage the affairs of our state
would be tantamount to leading the state to an economic doom” Bullem added.
The former Divisional Executive of Key Stone Bank maintained that his ambition
to succeed the present administration is anchored on the paradigm of continuity
of the Imoke`s administration stressing that his blueprint covers areas such as
education, health, agriculture and private investment, among several others.
On education, Bullem pointed out that if given the privilege he would improve
on content and quality of education which, according to him, is the pivot of
human empowerment, promising to make ensure that the sector is adequately
funded.
“I have already printed my blueprint, but I must emphasize that I will ensure
that the education sector is given utmost priority in my administration.
The funding will be adequate to cater for both the content and quality as
teachers will be trained and retrained for optimum productivity,” he explained.
The MD of WOPEF oil and gas firm said that given his experience in the banking
sector, he would manage the lean financial resources of the state to the extent
that will generate confidence in governance.
“I have been in the private sector and I know the precarious state of our
economy. I hope to ensure that our resources are well managed in a way
that will encourage private investors and generate revenue for the state,” he
said.
"My coming here is a formalisation of the journey. I had put myself on a
scale for the party to weigh me, if you find me as one with the capacity and as
a one who had meet up with the kind of person you are looking for then, give me
the mandate" He added.
He however, acknowledged that power comes from God “and I am ready to abide by
the decision of our party and support anyone who eventually emerges.”
Reacting, the state chairman of the party, Ntufam John Okon, ably represented by the State Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Goddy Ettah, reminded all the aspirants to abide by the rules of the game adding that the party would guaranty a level play ground to all aspirants.
