Gunmen Snatch Nigeria's Petroleum Minister's Brother

Armed suspected kidnappers in the early hours of Thursday abducted Joseph Agama, the younger brother to Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, according to Police sources.

Asinim Butswat, the Police Spokesman for Bayelsa Command,  has confirmed the development. He  said that the command got a report shortly after the incident happened. He also said, the police received a  distress call on Thursday from the victim’s father, Maxwell Agama at about 12.30 am on from Yenaka Community, a coastal settlement in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa  state.

Sources from the community said that the armed gunmen hijacked the victim to an unknown destination while abandoning their original boat. Family sources however say that the kidnappers were yet to establish contact or demand ransom.

Recalled that a sister to the minister,  Osiyo Agama, was also kidnapped in October 2014 in Port Harcourt and later rescued by a combined team of Joint Task Force and Department of State Security Services.
Nigerians across the land are worried sick with the incessant abduction of both politicians and nonpoliticians alike. The law enforcement agancies mostly work behind the kidnapped family members ransom-paying efforts.
