AYADE PROMISES ESTABLISHMENT OF COCOA PROCESSING PLANT IN ETUNG

Ayade who made the promise during a campaign rally in Etung, said the establishment of the processing plant was to create value chain which will in turn stimulate the economic growth of the state.

The governorship candidate's promise came on the heels of alleged

state government's plan to privatise the cocoa plantations in the area.
Earlier, the state governor, Senator Liyel Imoke had debunked rumours before the council of Etung traditional rulers of his administration's alleged plan to privatise the cocoa estates in the area.
According to Ayade, "Etung is critical to the economic development of Cross River State. I see a lot of economic opportunities and potentials in this area and the soil is very fertile and it will be exploited to support what governor Liyel Imoke has done in education, health care, roads and electricity to create jobs and wealth for Etung youths,” adding that, “I see a lot of progress, hope and bright future in Etung.”

He therefore enjoined the people to vote all the party’s candidates, as there was no way he could function effectively in Calabar without support from Abuja.
Earlier, the governor, accompanied by members of the party’s campaign train, had commissioned an electrification project at Nfum, a border community between Nigeria and Cameroon where Nigerian Immigration Service barracks is located.

The governor was received by the officer in charge, Mr. Lawrence Asuquo, who conducted him round facilities at the border post as well as the hanging bridge linking the two countries was later appealed upon to reactivate its broken down water project.

Responding, the House of Representatives member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency and PDP senatorial candidate, Hon John Owan Enoh, promised to come to their rescue by facilitating the water project which broke down three years ago, stressing that, ”I will do the job and all I want you to do is to follow it up because it is located within my constituency and it will be to support the state’s government effort at improving the lives and lifestyles of border communities.”

Cross River State PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Ben Ayade, has promised to establish a cocoa processing plant in Etung Local Government Area if elected as governor in the February 28 governorship poll.
