Why Labour Party Is My Alternative Platform-- Senator Prince Otu

The Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Bassey Edet Otu has formally broke silence on speculation made by the people of his constituent on why he left the PDP for the Labour Party an option which follow in assuaging the wishes of his supporters as to the platform to adopt in his determination to further represent his constituent at the Senate.

A release signed by Senator Bassey Otu and made available to MartyEteng.com in Calabar stresses that he finally dumped the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and picked the ticket of Labour Party to contest for his re-election in the 2015 General Election following his loss in the Senatorial primaries to Mr Gershom Bassey, Chairman of the Cross River State Water Board who was backed by Governor Imoke during the contest.

"My reaction to the charade exhibited by the PDP in the just concluded primaries in tandem with wide consultations among my constituents endorses my resignation and subsequent adoption of Labour Party as an alternative platform to actualize the popular ahead of the 2015 elections.
"The senatorial District in adopting this stance is cognisant of the fact that the Labour party has already endorsed by president Goodluck Jonathan as its flag bearer hence the adopted platform further cements the continuity of Transformation Agenda which truly is on course in the nation".

The statement stated.
"It is my believe that our mandate as a people will be realised on the platform of collective will and tenacity of purpose such that the enemies of democracy can realize the sanctity of the polls as a beacon of development both human and infrastructure. Otu stated.

"I hereby re-emphasied my resolve to continue service to my people as their solidarity will surely strengthen me to improve on past performances at all levels while urging them not to renege on their pledge that certainly "There is no Vacancy" Otu concluded

MartyEteng.com gathered that Otu had after the PDP just concluded primaries held in December 2014 in Cross River state appealed and complained to the electoral committee and the National Working Committee,(NWC) of the PDP in Abuja for redress which to all intents and purposes were meant to address all high handedness and irregularities perpetrated by the leader of the party who among other interests had substituted the authentic delegates list with a thoroughly manipulated one meant to favour a particular candidate, Chief Gershom Bassey.
