2014 CHILDREN CARNIVAL SETS THE BIG EVEN IN MOTION, CALABAR. THE COLOURFUL EVENT IN PIX.

The wife of the Cross River State Governor, Mrs Obioma Imoke, set in motion on Friday, the 2014 children carnival in Calabar.

Speaking at the occasion, Imoke said the carnival began seven years ago to celebrate children.
She revealed that the event
had created financial sustainability for Cross River, hence the need to sustenance.

“As the children take the four-kilometer walk today, I pray that God will guide and see them through,’’ she said.

In the remarks of the Chairman of Calabar Carnival Commission, Mr Gabriel Onah,  he said the carnival was also a way of commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Onah added that the carnival was designed to celebrate the children and to show them love. “The children are the leaders of tomorrow. There is need to celebrate and give them a sense of belonging.

Meanwhile the Government has issued announcements that three roads, including Mary Slessor, IBB round and U.J Esuene stadium, would be used for the four-kilometer carnival walk.

Even though the big day is today, the
town is bubbly calm as people get ready to watch the major event.

Tourists are very much around to enjoy themselves.
