A FEMALE PDP GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANT TO WATCH OUT FOR IN 2015


Dr. Mrs Ngozi Juliet Olejeme is an indigene of Delta State in Nigeria, a Philanthropist, entrepreneur, politician and administrator. She has sat on the board of numerous companies and Government establishments, most notably, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust-fund (NSITF) as the Chairman of the Board, Subsidy Re-Investment Program (SURE-P) and Trust Fund Pension, among others.

She was appointed Chairman of the Board, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) in June 2009 by late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and saw to the successful enactment into law of the Employees’ Compensation Act in December 2010 while also setting up of necessary human and physical infrastructure for the implementation of the Act, which was signed by President Goodluck Jonathan. She also took the helm as the Chairman of the Board of Trustfund Pensions Plc, on October 2009, where she did great exploits with the position. She is also the convener of the Subsidy Reinvestment and empowerment program (SURE-P) sub-committee on Public Works and Road Rehabilitation. She presently holds the Director of finance position in the Goodluck Support Group (GSC), which is an organization set up for the support of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Dr Ngozi Olejeme aspires to govern Delta State and is poised to bring a developmentalist ideology and agenda to Delta in 2015.

She is a woman of substance, a bridge builder, a loving mother of young people and a dependable Nigerian woman, versatile, exposed and experienced in the corporate world.

Olejeme has been an active politician in Nigeria, as she was a gubernatorial aspirant for Delta state under the auspices of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the 2007 elections

Dr Ngozi Olegeme is a strong supporter and finance director, Goodluck Support Group making her candidacy ripe to attract federal government presence to Delta State. This, she hopes in good faith, will equitably spread development across the three senatorial districts of the state. She is determined to carry out appointments in the interest of the people and will seemly represent the interest of the larger society if given the honour of being elected.

As a compassionate woman she created an NGO, The Ngozi Olejeme Foundation. It is a non-government organization set up to care for people who are most disadvantaged through its empowerment scheme and The Widowhood Projects. The empowerment scheme includes support for projects designed to enhance the employ-ability of young people and empowerment through vocational and skill building projects. The Widowhood Projects seeks to address the social cultural challenges of widows, it also empowers the widows and underprivileged woman with skills and grants for trade. The foundation recently donated cash prizes to 200 widows in Asaba, Delta State to enable them go into any business of their choosing.

WHAT DOES SHE HAVE TO OFFER DELTA STATE?

The lady of excellence hopes to pursue strategic development of wealth creation and handle Government with the right attitude and purposeful leadership so as to perform optimally.

 She nurses the ambition of running an efficient government that could provide an industrialised economy with full employment, price stability, high output and net export.

She believes that Industrialisation is fundamental to the quest of the Delta Beyond Oil philosophy and wants it captured with a greater framework that is inclusive and comprehensive.

Olejeme's government intends to rely on the deployment of agricultural revolution and the creation and merger of an industrial base to serve as catalyst for an African economic hub in Delta State and takeoff point for the Nigerian project.

Her developmental approach platform seeks to re-invent government as critical site and realm in production, distribution, exchange and consumption in the economic sphere and to make government as fountain of mobilizing society's resource towards effective competition and building of a comparative advantage economy.

The thrust of this developmentalism, she will further anchored on a social security programme for all Deltans with a vision to create a deliberate distribution and redistribution projects that is inclusive, comprehensive and entrenched on core foundation of committed grassroot mass mobilization involvement.

The hybrid cluster of home-grown community economic model that will mobilize equal opportunity for all to create an import substitution framework in conserving and generating wealth. Such communities she desires to allow own the process and gains of the model with the state, while also acting as facilitators. The developmentalism brand will only focus on developing and articulating all sectors of the economy in other to harmonize and promote circular flow of income to significantly multiply within the economy leaving little or no opportunity for leakages.

She has promised to see to the creation of Technology Incubation Centers along each sector of the economy to allow for the growth and development of the human capability to contribute enormously to their wellbeing. The financial and stabilizing fund for each sector development will be created to provide for robust and unhindered participation of all.

She is interested in creating Mentorship programmes for all incubation centers and follow up with entrepreneur buildup agenda.
The entrepreneur per excellence will focus on governance with better service and efficiency allocation in providing large scale economic mobilizing of resources for the benefit of all. There will be essential consideration in priorities areas like Education, Healthcare delivery, housing, industrial development, security, sports, youth and women empowerment, rural and urban renewal, transportation and infrastructural development.

She wants to deliberately promote accountability, transparency and good governance to the people of Delta State through good policies. In concordance to this, a policy dialogue platform will be created and in support of this, a stated timeframe will be made to present and promote government programmes in media chats and town hall meetings across the senatorial districts of the state to effectively capture the demands of the people of the state. This is intended to enhance the participatory nature of the government agenda to provide an inclusive and participatory government.

There shall be upgrade, training and development of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to meet with current global trend. Under a developmental state, the bureaucracy is expected to play the critical role as active partner of the executive arm of government. In this regard, the bureaucracy shall be comprehensively enlarged to play developmental role as agent of government.

These and more does the woman of substance intend to bring to the governance table of Delta State, and we ask, won’t you rather give such a woman a chance?
