FIRST NAVAL SECONDARY SCHOOL COMMISSIONED IN CALABAR.



As part of measures to adding value to lives of citizens through quality education, the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), have commissioned its first secondary school in Calabar the Cross River State capital.

Speaking during the commissioning of the school in Atimbo- Calabar, the National President of the Naval Officers Wives Association in Nigeria Mrs. Lami Jibrin, advised that girl-child education should be given attention in the country’s education curriculum.
She maintained that education of the girl-child speaks volume in any home because they are responsible for 75 percent of the activities at home.

In her remarks she said, “Please parents, join me in the advocacy of the girl-child education by sending your children to NOWA School. We have invested our meager resources in the development of our youth and NOWA will continue to make meaningful contributions to the wellbeing of the society to leave a legacy of selfless service to humanity.”
She went on, “we encourage our children to take their education seriously and more importantly, girl-child education must be given attention NOWA will continue to partner with the navy in welfare related venture.”

Earlier, the Ghana naval officers’ wives patroness, Mrs. Leticia Edem Biekro said that education was one of the basic needs of man adding that “Education is the power to add to wealth and success of life,”
The Ghananian NOWA patroness maintained that by educating the girl-child, the nation would witness rapid development in all spheres.
