Why PDP Suspended 11 members in Cross River State?

The allegations that the once amiable Governor Liyel Imoke might be one of the current governors in Nigeria interested in picking those who will fill the political positions in their states are on the rise due to the recent move by the People's Democratic Party, PDP suspending 11 of its members.

The just conclude delegate congress of the party has seen accusations and counter accusations being leveled against the now evident factionalisation of the once united Cross River State PDP. Owing the fact that they are two factions emerging in the same political party, some drastic measures needed to be taken.  While one faction consist of politicians that have fallen off the train of the Governor, the other are the ones being touted as anointed to smoothly sail into the existing political elective posts.

Meanwhile the main beef of the current crises seems to be the tussle between the two factions as during the Congress the politicians against the governor outsmarted his camp and prevented him from preparing the grounds for imposition of favored delegates who would have acted as his stooges at the primaries. This threat did not go down well as the powers that be are now using all at its disposal to dismantle the anti government faction.

The moves have been keeping tongues wagging as to the outcome of events when the State Party Leader arrested the attention of journalists for the disbursement of the following information.

The following are the names of the suspended group;

Goddy Jeddy Agba, Governorship Aspirant
Mr. Tony Mkpang
Dr Sandy Onoh Immediate past Commissioner for Environment
Hon James Tambang
Liganus Odigha,
Dr. Godwin Igile
Kenneth Ndoma Egba
Samuel Willie
Ubi Itam Ettah
Barr Venatius Ikem former PDP Publicity Secretary
Ernest Irek

In a press briefing with Journalists at the secretariat the Chairmen of the Party, Ntufam John Okon,  said that the decision to suspend the 11 members were arrived at after the state working Committee meeting they critically examined the role played by each of them over the last ward congresses.

Ntufam John Okon said that the suspended members by their conduct have not only ridiculed the party but have also done everything possible to compromise the system, just as they have taken the party to court against the party rules.

He said following the just concluded delegate Congress, a lot of issues occurred, following which many petitions have been written to him.

Ntufam Okon said for Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba and Mr. Chris Ettah, the constitution of the party, restrains them from being suspended, hence the matter is being referred to the national working Committee of the party.

The suspended members are to appear before the disciplinary committee headed by Barr Mrs. Josephine Effiom, former Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
