RE: TWO SACRED MONKEYS IN CROSS RIVER STATE (Former Gov Donald Duke)

SERMATECH NIGERIA LIMITED PROESTS

Former Gov. Donald Duke at Jeddy Agbas Declaration where statement was made
Our attention has been drawn to the statements of Mr. Donald Duke, the former Executive Governor of Cross River State at a public function on the 6th day of November, 2014 in Calabar.

In the highly defamatory and inciteful statements widely broadcasted nationwide and published in different national and community newspapers, the aforementioned former Executive Governor referred to our company as one of the two sacred monkeys who have cornered all the major in Cross River State in the past eight years.

While we do not intend to join issues with Mr. Donald Duke on his aforementioned statement and a host of others made at the public function referred to above, we would like to inform the general public that all the projects we are presently executing in Cross River State were awarded to our company after a rigorous technical and commercial bidding process with other construction companies.

Anyone who is conversant with how major contracts are awarded in Cross River State in the past seven years can confirm that it is not possible to be awarded a project of any significance without complying with a meticulous due procedure of the present administration in that state which is modified in line with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, Chapter 44 of the Laws of the Federation, 2012.

We would like to use this forum to point out to Mr. Donald Duke, that apart from Cross River State, our company has executed projects and is still executing high profile projects satisfactory for other states in the Federation and for other Federal and States’ government agencies. Some of the states where we have worked and are still working in the past fifteen years include Yobe, Rivers, Abia and Delta States. Some of the governmental agencies who we have worked for (and are still working for) include Central Bank of Nigeria and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In these places we were not referred to as sacred monkeys.

We would like to put it on record that Mr. Donald Duke’s highly defamatory and inciteful statements at the aforementioned public function have placed the lives of our officers and properties of our company in danger in Cross River State. It is obvious that Mr. Donald Duke’s intention is to trigger violent actions by criminal elements against officers and properties of our company in that State.

We are a responsible corporate citizen and have every right to bid for projects in any state of the Federation of Nigeria where we are given the opportunity to do so. Fortunately, our track record in the past years has made it possible for us to bid for and win projects in every geo-political zone in Nigeria. No where has anyone publicly incited their people against us the way Mr. Donald Duke did on the 6th of November, 2014 in Calabar.

We are using this forum to appeal to law enforcement agencies to call Mr. Donald Duke to order as we are going to hold him responsible for any injuries that may be suffered by officers and properties of our company in Cross River State.

SERMATECH NIGERIA LIMITED is a company with this address; 19A, Sumola Street, Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

While the furor continues, Cross Riverians are asking, who has this company and why should it be dragged into their politics?
