Assistant
Inspector General (AIG) of Police Zone 6, Mark Idakwo has allayed the fears of
residents under his Command that he and his men are set to ensure a hitch free
2014 yuletide season.
According
to Idakwo, a well coordinated surveillance team in and around the four states
of Cross River , Rivers, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom
States has been put in place to make this promise happen.
The
AIG made these remarks Thursday in Calabar at the occasion of the decoration of
a set of newly promoted officers.
Consequently,
the Zone Six Police boss has directed Commissioners of Police in the Zone to
sensitise members of the public through the media, to be security conscious and
desist from any acts of criminality which will breach public peace and order.
Idakwo
urged the general public especially parents to monitor the movements of their
wards, secure their homes and when on the roads, obey all traffic rules and
regulations.
The
police command pledged to deal with any person or group of persons who may be
poised to taking advantage of this season to foment trouble.
While
decorating the newly promoted officers, Idakwo said the Inspector General of
Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba “miffed at the stagnation of the officers and men of
the police Force” has as a result, recommended the expansion and creation of
more Commands/Formations and Duty Posts.
A
breakdown of those decorated at the occasion shows that in Akwa Ibom, two
Assistant Commissioners (ACs) were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, while
seven Chief Superintendents were elevated to Assistant Commissioners.
In
Cross River , two (CSPs) were promoted to
ACs. In Ebonyi, one CSP was elevated to
AC, while in Rivers; one ACP was elevated to DCP, and Four CSPs to Assistant
Commissioners.
Responding,
the elevated Officers thanked the IG for his achievements within such a short
term in office.
Meanwhile,
those who spoke to Marty Eteng’s Blog expressed their happiness over the new
promotion, after having been stagnated on the same rank for eight years,
stressing that with this elevation, they will be encouraged to do more for
