CROSS RIVER STATE GUBER ASPIRANTS 2015 (1)

HON. BARR. FIDEL EBI EGORO

When Hon. Fidel Ebi Egoro was elected State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2012, the un-compromising epitome of integrity and humility thought he had a rendezvous with his destiny and stock of achievements at the Golden age of fifty years.
Perhaps the indicators of persons across the State and Country of late are beginning to outline earlier plan to serve God fulltime and provide direction and mentorship to the youths.

Born on November 30th 1958 to the native community of Ujama, Ntrigom, South Ukelle in Yala Local Government Area. Fidel trained at the famous University of Ife where he graduated in Law with Honors in 1984, proceeded to the Nigerian Law school and enrolled as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1985.

He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, MBA.
He is highly detribalized and is of varied experiences becoming a commissioner in his State of Cross River at thirty-one years.

In 1985 he began what would later come to be a distinguished Professional legal practice in the Lagos area, having served with the Directorate of Army Legal Services DALS and Nkem Sweet and Co.

Barrister Egoro had between 1990 through 1992 served as Commissioner of Special Duties, Water Resources and Rural Development as well as that of works, Housing and Transport.

A dependable party man and consummate politician, Fidel had served his party the PDP at various capacities, for instance, in 2006 alone he was twice nominated as member Sokoto State Electoral Committee for election of both chapter and State Executive Council of PDP, as well as appointed Secretary PDP Imo State Electoral panel for all the primaries Delegates to Governorship.

The man whose love for service knows no bounds, Barrister Egoro had been Board Chairman of CROSPIL between 2002 to 2007, he was elected twice as Assistant Legal Adviser PDP at the same period. He later served his Local Government area as chairman in 2007 through 2010. Fidel Egoro has served and led several Committees and Projects from inception to stardom; for instance, he has served at different times as chairman, Treasurer and Secretary General of the State Commercial Agricultural Development Association as well as Chairman claims and Conflict Resolution, chairman committee for chairmen and councilors amongst others.

A Community man who has made indelible contributions to rural development especially in areas of Education, Healthcare and Water supply; Fidel is also a Hands-on Entrepreneur with investors and passion for Agro-industrialization and still presides over the Ujama Development Association till date. His impressive record of service, philanthropy and great humility as well as an effortless disposition to achieving predetermined results sets further challenges and attendant expectations by various sectors of the public.

Egoro’s pathological drive to his society based on the principle of transparency, accountability, equity and fair play as well as the fear of God is sacrosanct.
That relentless spirit of self sacrifice unfathomable desire to input into society so much that he has gotten, has earned him high mark on the service assessment chart. Fidel believes, economic planning and the aggressive pursuit of development as a conscious and deliberate process since 1999, has driven the implementation of well-articulated strategies, objectives and initiatives which took center stage, that the commitment to robust strategic planning and painstaking implementation is the raison d’être for the transformation evident in virtually all sectors of the State’s economy.

He upholds the massive progress recorded in the various spheres of the state economy viz development of agriculture, capacity enhancement Tourism development and infrastructure for water supply, Healthcare, Education, Transportation and Sanitation as well as Communication.

However, he insist it is still work in-progress as the State is not there yet, as the great vision for the State transcend the eight tears of Senator Liyel Imoke’s government. Egoro is an ardent protagonist of governor Imoke’s leadership style and his SEEDS 1 and 11 as well as the state vision 20:20:20 all of which he has unreservedly adopted for varied reasons.

He says the agenda of his administration if ever offered the opportunity will keep faith with the said vision to be refocused.
